CSO Report on Regions will inform policy makers in the years ahead - Carey
Minister Pat Carey and Government Chip Whip has today (26/6/08) welcomed the CSO Regional Quality of Life report as ‘a valuable research based study that will inform the policies adopted by Government in the years ahead.”
Minister Carey said, “As Minister with responsibility for the Central Statistics Office, I believe that this statistical based study gives my Government colleagues, and Departmental officials, clear indication where there are both successes and deficiencies in a wide range of policies pursued by Government. As a Government, it is right that we look for balanced regional development across all areas of public policy.
Notwithstanding the more challenging economic period which the country faces in the period ahead, it is vital that the Government continues to sensibly pursue policies which will enable every citizen, in every county, to achieve their full potential.
Over the coming months, the Government will map a course which brings every Irish region forward and which safeguards the long term well-being of all Irish people.”
