Legislation Programme for Spring Session 2007

Government Chief Whip Tom Kitt T.D., has announced the Government's Legislative Programme for the Dáil session, which commences tomorrow, 31st January, 2007.

Minister Kitt said, "The Government expects to publish 25 bills this session, among which are included the Immigration and Residence Bill, the Charities Bill, the Student Support Bill, the Consumer Protection Bill, the Dublin Transport Authority Bill, the Sports Council (Amendment) Bill and the Courts and Court Officers (Amendment) Bill. Publishing 25 bills is an ambitious undertaking and it reflects the Governments' determination to fulfill its commitments outlined in the Agreed Programme for Government and also to bring about other necessary legislation reforms.

Minister Kitt continued, "As this Government moves towards completing its term this year, the legislation programme for this Dáil session is indicative of its continued ambition and determination to maintain the legislation reform, which began over four years ago, at an intense pace. Since taking office we have published 182 bills and enacted 179 separate pieces of vital legislation.
