The Department of the Taoiseach has appointed an Access Officer in accordance with section 26(2) of the Disability Act 2005, This Officer is responsible for providing or arranging for, and coordinating assistance and guidance, to persons with disabilities accessing services provided by the Department and generally to act as a point of contact for people with disabilities wishing to access such services.

The Department of the Taoiseach has also appointed an Inquiry Officer to investigate complaints made under section 38 of the Disability Act 2005. The Inquiry Officer will carry out investigations in private and will produce a written report of their investigations a copy of which must be given to the Secretary General of the Department and to the person making the complaint. This report must set out the Inquiry Officer's findings and state whether there was a failure on the part of the Department to comply with the provision(s) of the Act and if so, the measures which must be taken by the Department to comply with the relevant provision(s) of the Act.
