Social Dialogue

The Government values dialogue with key representatives of civil society, and recognises the contribution that social dialogue can make to maximising common understanding across all sectors of society as we respond to the many challenges facing the country.

Regular contact is undertaken on issues of concern through bilateral contacts or consultation structures across relevant Government Departments. In addition, the Government sought the views of the social partners during the preparation of Ireland's National Reform Programme as part of the Europe 2020 process.

The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation is the lead Department in respect of industrial relations matters. The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform is the lead Department in respect of public sector pay policy and the Croke Park Agreement.
