Biography of Assistant Secretary John Callinan

Head of European and International Affairs Division, Responsible for European and International Policy Department of the Taoiseach.

Mr Callinan was appointed to this position in July 2007. Prior to this Mr. Callinan held a number of senior positions in the Department of the Taoiseach, most recently as Principal Officer in charge of the Economic Policy Unit where his responsibilities included Ireland's National Reform Programme under the EU Lisbon Agenda, the social partnership process and supporting the Cabinet Committee on infrastructure . 

He also spent four years at the European Commission working on taxation issues and has also held a number of posts at the Revenue Commissioners, including Senior Press Officer.
