Transforming Public Services
The ‘Transforming Public Services’ Programme is the term given to implementation of the Government Statement on Transforming Public Services, and the Report of the Task Force on the Public Service. The Task Force on the Public Service was established by the Taoiseach, Mr. Brian Cowen, T.D., in May 2008 to develop an action plan in response to the OECD’s Review of the Irish Public Service, which contained recommendations aimed at giving momentum to further transformation of the Public Service, a new direction and a new sense of urgency.
The Programme Office was established to support the implementation of the 'Transforming Public Services' programme. It is based in the Department of the Taoiseach. It supports the Government in driving, co-ordinating and monitoring progress on implementation of the 'Transforming Public Services' (TPS) programme. The Programme Office also supports organisations across both the Civil Service and the wider Public Service in their transformation efforts. A dedicated website with detailed information on all aspects of the TPS programme is available at www.onegov.ie.

The overall work of the Programme Office is supplemented by staff in other Departments, in particular the Department of Finance (www.finance.gov.ie), and the Sectoral Centres.
Sectoral Centres
Sectoral Centres have been established within the wider Public Service - the Local Government, Health, Education and Justice sectors. Their purpose is to support the change agenda at sectoral level. These Centres are actively involved in ensuring that the main messages of TPS are communicated throughout all sectors, and they will also be closely involved with the Central Programme Office in piloting transformation initiatives.
