Minister welcomes fall in November inflation rate
Minister of State and Government Chief Whip, Tom Kitt, T.D., today welcomed the fall in the annual inflation rate to 2.6% in November - down from 3.0% in September and October.
The Minister commented that the figures are positive from a competitiveness viewpoint. The EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices for November is 2.2% and is lower than the Euro-zone estimate of 2.4% for the same period.
Minister Kitt said: “It is vital for growth and jobs that our inflation rate will continue to be held at low levels over the period ahead. This is clearly in line with the Government’s ongoing budgetary policy to increase competitiveness and keep inflation low.”
