Taoiseach welcomes the recommendations of the National Implementation Body

The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, T.D., tonight welcomed the recommendations from the National Implementation Body. He urged the parties to the dispute at Irish Ferries to engage fully at the Labour Relations Commission in order to reach agreement.

On the wider issues of employment standards the Taoiseach said that he had already stated that the Government would engage on these issues in the context of negotiations with the Social Partners on a new agreement.

He therefore welcomed the recommendation of the National Implementation Body that negotiations should now commence.
