The Taoiseach says that Budget 2010 will provide a significant stimulus for jobs, training and employment opportunities. "The measures in Budget 2010 mean that 180,000 individuals will receive training or supports in 2010 at a total cost of over €1.1 billion" according to Mr. Cowen.

Taoiseach announces 'education campus' for Monaghan town

27  November  2009 -  Ireland secures Research and Innovation portfolio in European Commission.

The Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, announced today that Ireland has secured the Research and Innovation portfolio in the new European Commission. Maire Geoghegan Quinn, Ireland's nominee to the new Commission, is to be allocated this portfolio by Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso.

20  November  2009 -  Taoiseach Briefed on Emergency Response to Flooding

The Taoiseach Mr. Brian Cowen T.D. held a meeting with the Minister for the Environment and Local Government Mr. John Gormley T.D. and the Co-ordinator of the Emergency Task Force. This followed a special meeting of the Emergency Task Force earlier today. They reviewed the response of the emergency services and local authorities to the unprecedented flooding that has so severely impacted on many parts of the Country.
