Taoiseach Travels to Downing Street for Key Talks on Northern Ireland with Prime Minister
The Prime Minister and the Taoiseach issued the following statement after their meeting in Downing Street today.
“When we met on December 17th, we said that we believed that the early completion of the devolution of policing and justice powers to the Northern Ireland Assembly was both realistic and achievable and that any outstanding issues were capable of resolution by the parties.
Speaking after today’s developments in Stormont, the Taoiseach, Brian Cowen TD, said:
“ I want to pass on my best wishes to Peter Robinson and his family as they deal with very difficult personal issues at this time.
I welcome his decision to continue to work on the crucial issue of devolution of policing and justice and his commitment to a successful resolution.
The Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen TD, has strongly condemned this morning's car bomb attack, which targeted a PSNI Officer in Co. Antrim.
The Taoiseach and Ministers were briefed this morning on the response to the severe weather situation.
