Role of Minister for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton, T.D.
The Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach and the Department of European Affairs has Special Responsibility for European Affairs. In a coordinating role in the Department of the Taoiseach, the Minister of State chairs an Interdepartmental Coordinating Committee on European Union Affairs. The Committee keeps under review, and works to ensure coherence on, the full range of issues on the EU’s agenda. The Minister of State accompanies the Minister for Foreign Affairs to the Foreign Affairs and External Relations Council meetings. She also attends regular meetings of her European Affairs counterparts and represents Ireland at meetings and conferences of international organisations.
