No. 43 of 2003 - Broadcasting (Funding) Act, 2003

What does this Law do?

This law establishes a Broadcasting Funding Scheme for 

  • new television and radio programmes on Irish culture, heritage and experience,

  • new television and radio programmes to improve adult literacy,and

  • the development of archiving of television and radio programme material. 

The Scheme is to be developed and administered by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland, and is funded by 5% of the net television licence fee receipts.
