No. 29 of 2005 - Appropriation Act 2005

What does this law do?

The main purpose of the Appropriation Act, 2005 is to give statutory authority for the amounts voted by the Dáil during the year in the estimates (original and supplementary) of expenditure for Government Departments and their agencies and also approval for the expenditure of receipts on services provided by them.

It also provides for:

  • the carryover from 2005 to 2006 of unspent Exchequer capital amounts by certain Departments up to a limit of 10% of their Vote
  • deferment of the end-year deadline for the Financial Resolutions passed on Budget Day, and
  • certain excise duties levied on tobacco products to be appropriated to the Health Service Executive Vote from 1 January 2006 rather than to the Vote of the Minister for Health and Children as was the case under the Appropriation Act, 1999.
