No 1 of 2006 - University College Galway (Amendment) Act
What does this law do?
The purpose of the Act is to amend section 3 of the University College Galway Act, 1929, which required candidates for appointment to offices or positions in the National University of Ireland Galway to be competent in the Irish language. The Act replaces this requirement with an obligation to ensure that one of the principal aims of each strategic development plan of the University provides for the delivery of education through the Irish language. It also obliges the President and Governing Authority of the University to ensure this aim is implemented.
