$2 million Grant for JFK Library

The Taoiseach, Mr Bertie Ahern TD, today attended an event at the Kennedy Library in Boston where he announced Irish Government funding of $2 million for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.

The grant will support projects celebrating the shared commitment of Ireland and the United States to President Kennedy's ideals.

The awarding of this grant comes on the 45th anniversary of President Kennedy's visit to Ireland.

Speaking at today's event which was attended by Senator Ted Kennedy and other members of the Kennedy family, the Taoiseach said "President Kennedy inspired Ireland and the Irish people with a new confidence in our ability to play a key role on the international stage."

This is the last event of the Taoiseach's visit to the US where last Wednesday he made an historic address to the Joint US Houses of Congress before meeting with President George Bush.
