Taoiseach to Highlight New and Exciting Era in Ireland’s Relationship with America

 

The Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen TD, is continuing his visit to the United States with a series of engagements highlighting the potential of the Ireland as an international investment location and as a tourist destination.  He will also make a keynote speech on the future of Ireland’s relationship with America.

He will hold meetings with key figures in the US business community, including IDA client companies who are current and potential future investors in Ireland.  He will also attend an event hosted by Tourism Ireland to promote American tourism to this country.

Tonight, the Taoiseach will be the Guest of Honour at the Wall Street 50 Dinner in New York, where he will give a keynote address.

In his speech, the Taoiseach is expected to highlight the transformation of the Irish economy in recent years and to stress the Government’s determination to ensure that the opportunities presented by that new economic strength are seized for the benefit of future generations. 

He is also expected to reflect on a new era of Irish-US relationships and how the power and influence of the extensive Irish Diaspora in the United States and across the world can be harnessed to develop a global network that can benefit all of its members, at home and abroad.
