Taoiseach to meet Prime Minister of Finland

The Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen TD, will today, Thursday,  travel to Helsinki for consultations ahead of  next month's European Summit.

The Taoiseach will today meet with Prime Minister Vanhanen.  They will discuss the situation in relation to the Lisbon Treaty, as well as a number of other key EU issues including the climate change and energy package and the international financial crisis. 

When in Helsinki, the Taoiseach will also meet the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen.

The Taoiseach will then travel to Stockholm where he will have discussions with PM Reinfeldt on Friday morning.
