Taoiseach Attends Informal Meeting of European Heads of State and Government in Brussels

 

The Taoiseach, Mr. Brian Cowen T.D., will attend an Informal Meeting of European Union Heads of State and Government in Brussels today, (Sunday, 1 March 2009).

The meeting has been called by the Czech Presidency in response to the international financial and economic crisis. Leaders are expected to stress the need for the Union to act together in a coordinated manner. Discussions will likely focus on the functioning of the financial sector, the European Economic Recovery Plan, how to best stimulate employment, and preparations for the forthcoming Spring European Council on 19-20 March.
