“17 bills are expected to be published this session including the Student Support Bill, Health (Long term Residential Care Services) Bill, Dublin Transport Authority Bill and the Irish Sports Council (Amendment) Bill,” said Minister Kitt.
“We will also be publishing the Twenty-eighth Amendment of the Constitution Bill (Reform Treaty) to enable the State to ratify the Reform Treaty, signed in Lisbon on 13th December 2007.”
“We enacted a lot of legislation in the last Dáil, managing the programme strategically to ensure all our goals were met, thus enabling us to enter the 30th Dáil without a pre-existing raft of legislation. In fact, in the 29th Dáil, we enacted 209 bills. Since this Government came to office on 14th June 2007, 12 bills have been enacted.”
“We now have an ambitious legislative programme to present to the Dáil for the forthcoming session. As we enter into our second session, this Government is determined to sustain the intense pace of legislative reform of recent years and intend to introduce progressive and effective legislation that will meet the needs of modern Ireland” said Minister Kitt
