Taoiseach Attends Bastille Day Celebrations in Paris

The Taoiseach continues his programme in Paris today (14 July) following his attendance at the summit to launch the ‘Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean’.   The summit was attended by Heads of State and Government from the EU and the Mediterranean countries.

Before attending the Bastille Day Parade the Taoiseach said ‘we had a very productive and informative summit yesterday.  It is beneficial to both the EU and Mediterranean Partners to work together on a range of issues.  This summit is the first step in reinvigorating and renewing Euro-Mediterranean cooperation’.

At the invitation of President Sarkozy, the Taoiseach will this morning attend the Bastille Day parade at the Place de la Concorde.  The Taoiseach’s programme in Paris will conclude with his attendance at a Heads of State and Government lunch hosted by President Sarkozy.
