Taoiseach leads Government delegation at the British-Irish Council (BIC) Summit.
Following a series of meetings at the United Nations in New York, the Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen TD, will today, Friday, lead the Government delegation at the British-Irish Council (BIC) Summit meeting in Scotland.
The meeting will be hosted by Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond and will be attended by representatives from all eight members of the BIC (Ireland, the UK, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man).
Northern Ireland will be represented by the First and deputy First Ministers, Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness.
The main focus of the meeting will be on the development of energy co-operation.
It will also address demography and migration issues and review progress on existing co-operation in areas such as drugs, the environment, transport and the knowledge economy. The Council is also expected to consider proposals for further co-operation in a number of areas, including early years policy and digital inclusion.
