Taoiseach to Attend Ceremony on 10th Anniversary of the Omagh Bomb

The Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen TD, will represent the Government at a civic ceremony in Omagh today to mark the 10th anniversary of the Omagh Bomb.

The Taoiseach stated:

" Today, people all across these islands and further afield stand once more in solidarity with the people of Omagh.

The atrocity of 15th August 1998 was an attack on all of the people of Ireland.

As we continue to build a peaceful and a better future, it remains an indelible stain on our history that will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were killed and injured, and all of those who still grieve for their loss and who continue to search for justice."

The Government will also be represented at a private memorial ceremony in Omagh on Sunday, August 17th.

Ends.
