Taoiseach to travel to Prague for the Summit to launch Eastern Partnership
The Taoiseach will travel to Prague tomorrow for the Summit to launch the Eastern Partnership between the European Union and six Eastern Europe neighbouring countries.
The European Union Heads of State and Government agreed to the establishment of the Eastern Partnership at their European Council meeting in March. The Eastern Partnership provides a framework for improved relations and cooperation between the EU and six neighbouring countries to the east - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine.
The Eastern Partnership has been a priority of the Czech Presidency. The meeting will be chaired by outgoing Czech Prime Minister, Mirek Topolanek. Most of the participating countries will be represented at Head of State and Government level.
