Taoiseach Speaks to Prime Minister David Cameron.

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen T.D. spoke to the Prime Minister Cameron by telephone this afternoon.

He extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister on his appointment.

They discussed the importance of maintaining the close relationship between the Irish and British governments, in relation to Northern Ireland and other matters of mutual interest, including economic ties and European Union matters.

The Taoiseach passed on his best wishes to Mr. Cameron and his family.
