Minister Murphy welcomes €20m data centre investment by PlanNet21 with the creation of 30 jobs

Dara Murphy TD, Minister for European Affairs and Data Protection has today welcomed the announcement by PlanNet21 Communications Ltd that the company is investing €20million in Ireland. The indigenous Irish company is building a 10,000 square feet data centre in Dublin, which will open its doors in November, with the creation of 30 new jobs.
Speaking at the announcement in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, Minister Murphy said:
"The construction of world-class data centres, such as that being announced by PlanNet21 today, is an important growth area for the Irish economy. Ireland has already established itself as a global hub for data centres and it is clear that the importance of the services they provide, such as cloud computing, is set to increase in the coming years."
"As a growing indigenous company, I congratulate PlanNet21 on this significant investment and jobs announcement. For many companies in the ICT sector, data is similar to capital or raw materials in traditional industries, as it is fundamental to their business models. Having the data which is critical to these businesses hosted in Ireland is a huge vote of confidence in the data centre ecosystem that we have in place here."
